David with Fergus at the 2003 Royal Adelaide Show

Welcome to the Goluboy cattery web site. The cattery is run as a family hobby. All of the family is included in the day to day running of the hobby and this way all the cats and kittens which are raised inside and not caged, get plenty of handling and attention.

Kylie and David met through the vet clinic Kylie worked at and David was a customer. Kylie and her mother had been breeding Persians since Kylie was ten years of age under the prefix of Pollyanna, David at the time was showing and breeding Russian Blues. Kylie did not like the short coats of the Russians preferring the long coated varieties and David while liking the long coats but realising how much work was involved, set on a quest to find something they could both enjoy.

Finally in 1991 they purchased their first Birman. By this time their fourth child was about to be born after having three sons our daughter arrived. And chaos reigned. We then set about getting serious with our Birmans. By 1994 we started to reap the benefits winning many end of year awards and receiving Birman Exhibit of the Year, an award we have retained every year since.

Many other awards include 1996 Group 1 Neuter of the Year, our first major award and recently at the top show of the year, The Royal Adelaide Show where there are over 420 exhibits, we have in the last three years won the following:-

  • 2002 Supreme Exhibit - Golobuy Romeos Juliette, Blue Point Birman
  • 2003 Supreme Exhibit - Golobuy Fergus Maximus, Seal Tabby Birman
  • 2004 Reserve to Supreme - Golobuy Fergus Maximus
  • 2004 7th Best in Show - Goluboy Jimminey Cricket - Seal Point Birman

Also in 2003 we took out Group 1 Prefix of the year.

Wally was our first real success story carrying the Goluboy name being 1995 Birman Exhibit of the Year 1995
and winning loads of Group 1 Best Neuter under many overseas judges.
Wally is now twelve and lives a very comfortable retired life at home.

We look on our Birmans as something that we love to do and put their needs as pets first rather than show or breeding objects, and this shows as people who have purchased one of our children often say they have the best personality and settle into their new homes in no time and take over the household with ease.
